Ecotourism offers fun educational places to visit and things to do for visitors and residents alike. 

Guided Naturalist Walks at ADK Mountain Clubs’ Heart Lake location. Daily 11am and 2pm during the summer.  Naturalist Lecture Series, also at ADK Heart Lake High Peaks Information Center.  Guided hikes and skills workshops run by ADK Heart Lake.

Ausable Chasm  in Keesville is the Grand Canyon of the Ausable River offering a unique float trip downstream.

High Falls Gorge  in Wilmington offers access to a particularly scenic part of the West Branch of the Ausable River.

Natural Stone Bridge and Caves in Pottersville, is a local geology lesson.

Driving up the the Whiteface Memorial Highway is a treat, especially for people who can’t get to the top of a major peak any other way.  This has recently been rebuilt.

Hudson River Whitewater rafting is another option for the more adventurous.  There are a number of companies that offer trips.  The link to the left is just one, so google search Hudson River Whitewater for other options.

The Wild Center, is the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks located in Tupper Lake.  It has excellent exhibits for all ages.  Look at their website for directions. Look at the calendar for outdoor events.
